Hey ya’ll! It’s been a while. Hope all is well….
We have some exciting news! No…unfortunately it’s not that we’ve started building – Lord please let it happen soon – but, we are taking great news as we can get it. So, the news – we finally have the last piece of the puzzle. We have a homestead truck!
If you remember, back in August, my stepdad brought down a tractor and brush-hog that he owned for us as a gift and investment of our goal to start our homestead. He and his friend pulled the tractor down with a trailer that he also owned and let us have. We didn’t feel comfortable leaving this equipment out on the property unattended, so we have been housing the tractor and brush hog in our two car garage and the trailer has been sitting on my sister’s lawn – bless her heart for letting us do this. For two months, we’ve been packing our small minivan with a riding mower gifted to us from my dad (I have some very giving men in my life, y’all!) and going out to the property cutting the little bit that was already manicured near the barn.
Although we have a tractor, brush-hog, and trailer we haven’t even been able to touch the majority of the property. Why, you ask? Because we had nothing to pull it with. Do you know how much it sucks to go out to your property and see acres that could be used, but you can’t because it has brush growing on it? In our minds we know if only we could get the tractor, that we have sitting in our garage, out there it would all be gone and we could do some amazing stuff! That’s a really sucky feeling.
The Completed Puzzle
Until! A couple of weeks ago, my stepdad decided to come through with an old truck that he was no longer using. His brother fixed it up and got it running again, so we can use it to pull the tractor and trailer! Did I mention how awesome the men in my life are? Oh yeah, we are cooking with ALL the burners now, buddy. I can’t thank God enough for these blessings. The great thing about this truck is that it is a true work truck. We can haul things, pull things, use it as a flat bed or build sides on it. This is what we needed when we were in our culvert dilemma.
Now we have to have a naming ceremony for our homestead truck. All of our cars have had girl names. Our van that loads the riding mower is lovingly called “C-Mini” or “Cee” for short. Our “family” van is called “Ellie” because she is the “LE” model, but this one is an old man; a workin’ truck. It needs a strong fitting name….like…Amos or something – HA! We’ll figure it out, in fact, I think Antoine already has.
Earlier this week we got it and the trailer registered at the DMV and are ready to take them on the road. We are chomping at the bit for the weekend. It’s going to be a nice weather and some stuff is gonna get cut down! Whooo! You guys keep an eye out for some videos of our first ride!
Until then…y’all stay safe!
