With the news of RoundUp chemicals being found in children’s cereals, you may be concerned with what’s contained inside of their foods. Make your own back-to-school granola using organic oats. Below is a quick recipe to get you started.
Pre-heat oven to 300 degrees
Melt butter, mix honey and vanilla, and mix all with oats, pecans, and salt well.
After mixing the above ingredients well, spread onto parchment paper on a baking sheet evenly. Place in the oven for about 15 minutes. Take it out and turn the oat mixture gently (be careful! The baking sheet is HOT!) so that the oats can now cook on the other side. Place back in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes more or until it browns to your liking.
Once browned to your liking, take mixture out of the oven and place the parchment paper on a cooling rack. If you don't have a cooling rack, then place the parchment paper onto a cooler surface. You don't want to leave it on the baking sheet because your mixture will continue to bake.
Once cooled, mix in your add-ins. Don't do it before the mixture is cooled otherwise your add-ins may melt or become gooey.
Sprinkle your cinnamon and brown sugar mixture through out. Turn to coat evenly.
Place into a jar and you're done!
